A lifelong resident of Lake County
Dr. Ron was born and raised in Northwest Indiana. He is a 1980 graduate of Lake Central High School. After college, Ron and Marion moved to Crown Point where they have lived for twenty years.
A life of serving and caring for people
Dr. Ron Johnson Jr. serves as the senior pastor at Living Stones Church in Crown Point, Indiana. For nearly three decades he has been caring for the needs of families and individuals here in Northwest Indiana.
Training and inspiring the next generation
Dr. Ron has an extensive background in serving and training young people. He served as the youth pastor at Living Stones for twelve years. During that time he took hundreds of teens overseas on short-term humanitarian trips in over a dozen different nations. He is the author of a youth leadership curriculum called The College of the Cause which has been used to train thousands of teens in the basics of a biblical worldview.
Ongoing Academic Excellence and Equipping
Dr. Ron is a 1984 graduate of Taylor University where he served as Student Body President and was the recipient of the Taylor Student Leader of the Year Award.
Upon graduation he attended Regent University where he completed his Master of Arts in Counseling and was honored with Regentâ€™s â€œAward of Excellenceâ€ as the outstanding graduate in the School of Education.
In May of 2005, he earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Regent University with a special emphasis in organizational leadership and Christian worldview.
Dr. Ron is the founder and president of Living Stones College, a two-year accredited college dedicated to the training of pastors, missionaries and marketplace leaders.
Dr. Ron serves as an instructor at Indiana Wesleyan University-Merrillville where he teaches the following courses:
Marriage & Family Business Ethics Philosophy and Christian Thought
He also has taught an on-line Masterâ€™s level course with Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA.
Community and Public Service
Ron was the Republican candidate for State Representative, District #19 in 2000 and is currently running for the same seat in 2012.
He was appointed by US Senator Richard Lugar to serve on an advisory committee for the selection of the US Attorney for the State of Indiana, 2000.
Dr. Ron served as a member of the Mayorâ€™s Youth Advisory Council for Crown Point, 1993.
A Commitment to Strong Marriages & Families
Dr. Ron serves on the Board of Directors at the Indiana Family Institute, a non- partisan public education and research organization committed to strengthening and improving the marriages and families of all Hoosiers
Dr. Ron serves on the advisory board of the Washington-based Family Research Council. Since 1983, Family Research Council (FRC) has advanced faith, family and freedom in public policy and public opinion.
Dr. Ron has been a national speaker on the topic of building strong marriages and families.
A Champion of Religious Liberty
Dr. Ronâ€™s passion is to see pastors taking a more active role as leaders in their communities. He is the founder and Executive Director of the Indiana Pastorâ€™s Alliance, a network of clergy, churches and Christian organizations who have come together to advance and defend the cause of faith, family and freedom throughout the state.
Dr. Ron has been a national leader in the Pulpit Initiative, a legal effort led by the Alliance Defense Fund designed to protect the First Amendment rights of pastors in the pulpit.
As a result of his leadership, Ronâ€™s article, â€œIRS Should Not Keep Churches Out of Politicsâ€ was published by U.S. News and World Report, 11/10/2008.
Dr. Ron Johnson Jr. continues to be a popular speaker at churches, conferences and other community events. He has written and spoken widely on the topics of Religious Liberty, Church & State, Biblical Worldview and Cultural Transformation.
He has been interviewed by The Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, Focus on the Family, American Family Association, National Public Radio, U.S. News & World Report Magazine, The Peter Heck Show and numerous talk radio shows across the nation. He also writes a weekly blog dedicated to bringing a biblical perspective to the contemporary cultural issues of today (www.reformingculture.com).
A Devoted Husband and Father
He is happily married to Marion, his college sweetheart of 27 years and they have eight children.Â
